Our take
What does Black Opium Illicit Green smell like?
In spring 2022, Yves Saint Laurent turned its bestseller green. Nathalie Lorson, already linked to Black Opium, worked on it with Paris mixologist Margot Lecarpentier. The cocktail idea shows right from the start. Pear, green mandarin and fig leaf suggest an ice cold mocktail. The heart keeps the orange blossom and jasmine of the line. Milky fig takes up a lot of room there and softens the whole thing. The base goes back to familiar ground with coffee, bourbon vanilla, patchouli and cedar. Coffee stands out more clearly than in other flankers. On some skins it even picks up a pipe tobacco nuance. The black glitter bottle hides a neon green core, which looks good on a shelf. Compared with the original Black Opium, Illicit Green is less powdery and less sweet at the start. Fans of Diptyque's Philosykos will find a much more gourmand fig here, close to dessert.
When to wear it
Best in spring and autumn, for daytime or a dinner. Two sprays on the neck are enough as the fig lingers.
It belongs to the Floral, Gourmand family. Black Opium Illicit Green is one of 35 creations by Yves Saint Laurent in our encyclopedia.
