Our take
What does Image Homme smell like?
Cerruti launched Image in 1998, a men's scent sold under the Nino Cerruti name. Retailers file it under green aromatics. The opening was unusual for its time. Pear and plum bring crisp fruit without sugar, and pepper with banana leaf makes it greener. The heart turns on fig leaf with cypress and guaiac wood. A touch of jasmine softens it. The base stays clean. Tahitian vetiver leads with cedar and musk, while patchouli, amber and sandalwood stay in support. Nothing spills over. Compared with Cerruti 1881 pour Homme, which is more aromatic and more classic, Image is lighter and fruitier. It's a late-1990s scent in the good sense: sheer, clean and easy. Our only complaint is short staying power. By mid-afternoon you're left with a faint woody musk that only you can smell. A spare bottle in the desk drawer helps.
