Our take
What does Éclat de Nuit smell like?
Lanvin dressed its best-seller Éclat d'Arpège for the evening in 2018, with a formula attributed to Fabrice Pellegrin. It opens on fruit. A crisp red apple comes first, framed by lemon zest and tart blackcurrant. The heart shifts mood. Jasmine, freesia and orange blossom make a white bouquet, and night-blooming flower adds a heavier edge once the sun goes down. The base explains the name. Toasted praline settles in with vanilla over creamy sandalwood, and the whole thing smells like dessert served after dinner. Éclat d'Arpège is all lilac and watery light. This one drops that transparency entirely. It sits closer to Lancôme's La vie est belle, though lighter and with far less patchouli. The bottle keeps the round shape of the Éclat line, just in a darker shade. On skin the praline wins in the end, and the flowers fade first.
When to wear it
An evening scent for autumn and winter. Two sprays on the neck are enough, as the praline lingers on a scarf for hours.
It belongs to the Floral, Gourmand, Fruity family. Éclat de Nuit is one of 14 creations by Lanvin in our encyclopedia.
