Our take
What does Flower by Kenzo Eau de Vie smell like?
Kenzo revisited Flower in January 2019 with Eau de Vie, a light eau de parfum. Alberto Morillas, who wrote the 2000 original, composed it with Marie Salamagne and Fabrice Pellegrin. Korean actress Kim Tae-ri fronted the campaign, shot in San Francisco. Ginger opens with a cool sting. Neroli, bergamot and petitgrain follow, and the start smells of citrus peel rather than powder. Orange blossom fills the heart, backed by Bulgarian rose. The base softens. Tonka, benzoin and vanilla spread a warm veil, finished with white musks. The original Flower by Kenzo is powdery and violet-led. Eau de Vie feels sunnier and more energetic. Beyond the bottle and a musky base, the family resemblance is slim. The ginger fades within an hour, and what remains is a soft orange blossom skin scent.
When to wear it
