Our take
What does Manifesto smell like?
Manifesto launched in Europe in September 2012 and in the United States early in 2013. Anne Flipo and Loc Dong composed it for Yves Saint Laurent. The opening is its best part. Blackcurrant, green notes and bergamot have the sharpness of a crushed bud. Jasmine then takes over, with lily of the valley lightening the heart. It's a clear floral, almost clean. The base shifts tone. Vanilla and tonka rise gently, held by sandalwood and cedar, and the scent turns warmer than the top suggested. That move from green to creamy is the whole appeal. The 2013 Élixir took the same idea further, denser and with tuberose. Several resellers list it as discontinued, but YSL hasn't confirmed this.
When to wear it
Autumn, at the office or in the evening. Two sprays, on the neck rather than on clothes.
It belongs to the Floral, Oriental / Amber family. Manifesto is one of 47 creations by Yves Saint Laurent in our encyclopedia.
