Our take
What does Chance Eau Vive smell like?
Chanel added Chance Eau Vive to the Chance family in 2015. Olivier Polge, the house perfumer, composed it. Jean-Paul Goude directed the ad, in which models go bowling with the bottles. The opening is bright and tart. Grapefruit leads, juicy and a little bitter, while blood orange adds a sweeter red note. The heart stays light. A see-through jasmine blends with white musk and never turns heady. The base is the surprise. Vetiver and cedar bring a dry woodiness, and iris leaves a faint powder that ties it to the other Chance scents. It stays luminous from start to finish. Chance Eau Tendre is fruitier and rounder. Eau Vive is livelier and more about citrus. It is also the sportiest of the line, the one you could wear after the gym.
When to wear it
A summer daytime scent for the office or the beach. Plan to reapply mid-afternoon because the citrus evaporates quickly.
It belongs to the Floral family. Chance Eau Vive is one of 45 creations by Chanel in our encyclopedia.
