Our take
What does Tornade Blonde smell like?
Christian Louboutin moved into perfume in 2016 with three eaux de parfum. Olivier Cresp composed Tornade Blonde while Pierre Negrin did the other two. The twisted glass bottle forms a loop, and the liquid flows around a hole in the middle. Louboutin called Tornade Blonde a state of mind rather than a colour. It opens green and tart with rhubarb, violet leaf and cassis. Ambrette adds a slightly animal skin note. Then Bulgarian rose takes over, red and fleshy. Jasmine sambac and gardenia make it richer while orange blossom lifts it. The cedar, sandalwood and patchouli base leans toward a modern chypre. Against Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, Tornade Blonde is greener at the start and more floral in the heart. The rose lasts for hours and leaves a warm woody trail on clothes. It has since become hard to find.
When to wear it
An evening floral for autumn and dinners out. Two sprays are enough, since the rose spreads quickly.
It belongs to the Floral, Chypre family. Tornade Blonde is one of 1 creations by Christian Louboutin in our encyclopedia.
