What does Woman smell like?
Ralph Lauren launched Woman in 2017, with Anne Flipo as the perfumer. The opening is tart and green. Rhubarb gives it crunch and blackcurrant adds the smell of a crushed leaf, while pear softens the edges without adding sugar. Tuberose then takes over. Don't expect the narcotic tuberose of the eighties. This one stays luminous and almost clean, lit up by orange blossom, with Turkish rose giving it some flesh. The base holds the best idea in the bottle. A lightly toasted hazelnut slips into the sandalwood and woods, a bit like a handful of nuts at the bottom of a coat pocket. That detail is what sets it apart from the crowd of white florals released around the same time. Next to Gucci Bloom, another tuberose from 2017, Woman smells fruitier and much less dense.
When to wear it
A polite white floral that works at the office. Wear it in spring or autumn with two sprays, since the hazelnut shows best on warm skin.
