Our take
What does J'adore Parfum d'eau smell like?
In 2022 Dior released its first alcohol-free perfume. J'adore Parfum d'eau uses a patented water-based formula that the house says lasts like an eau de parfum. The J'adore amphora turns pearly white with a velvety finish. Neroli from Vallauris opens it, fresh and slightly bitter. Sambac jasmine follows quickly, sunnier than in classic J'adore. Chinese magnolia, velvety and lemony, softens the picture. Rose and honeysuckle fill out the bouquet without crowding it. Dior lists no base notes, and you can tell. There is no noticeable wood or musk, just flowers that slowly fade. Texture is the real point of interest. Without the jolt of alcohol, the first spray feels gentler and sits closer to the skin. Compared with the 1999 J'adore, which is fruitier and bigger, Parfum d'eau is more intimate and greener.
When to wear it
For daytime in spring and summer, and for skin that reacts badly to alcohol. Dior also suggests misting it on hair.
It belongs to the Floral family. J'adore Parfum d'eau is one of 56 creations by Dior in our encyclopedia.
