Our take
What does Thé Cachemire smell like?
Thé Cachemire joined Dior's La Collection Privée in 2018, composed by François Demachy, then the house perfumer. Dior presents it as inspired by a Japanese tea ceremony and the softness of a cashmere sweater. The opening is fresh with bergamot, petitgrain and bitter orange. Then the tea arrives. It is delicate rather than tannic, surrounded by pale flowers such as honeysuckle, magnolia and a little rose. The base combines mate, light smoke and clean musks. That smoke is what keeps it from going bland. The final effect is cottony and close to the skin, almost like laundry. Compared with Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert, it is muskier and less citrusy. The issue is price. For something this discreet, La Collection Privée asks a lot, and some will find the projection too shy.
When to wear it
For the office or a quiet weekend in spring or autumn. Spray it on a sweater so the musks last.
It belongs to the Floral, Green family. Thé Cachemire is one of 56 creations by Dior in our encyclopedia.
