Our take
What does Rumeur 2 Rose smell like?
Lanvin introduced Rumeur 2 Rose in 2007, a year after Francis Kurkdjian's Rumeur. Honorine Blanc is credited with this follow-up, meant to be fruitier and fresher than the first. The opening is a basket of citrus: citron, orange, grapefruit and bergamot. Juicy pear and green notes keep it from turning sour. In the heart, rose leads a crowded bouquet. Magnolia, jasmine and honeysuckle surround it. Lily of the valley adds a soapy touch. The base fits in three words: musk, patchouli and amber. It is clean and holds no surprises. Rumeur 2 Rose looks more toward Éclat d'Arpège, Lanvin's other fresh hit from 2002. It has the same taste for lightness, with a more visible rose. It is still easy to find, often at a low price. That makes it a sensible buy for anyone wanting an uncomplicated rose.
