What does Turbulences smell like?
Louis Vuitton returned to perfume in 2016 with seven creations by its in-house perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. Turbulences was one of them and the most floral of the set. Grasse jasmine opens alongside a fruitier jasmine sambac. Tuberose then takes center stage. It has none of the buttery, nearly camphorous character of the big classics. Here it is brightened by a lemony Chinese magnolia and May rose. Leather arrives later, soft like the inside of a new handbag, smoothed by musk and sandalwood. That nod to the house's leather goods is the best idea in the formula. Compared with Robert Piguet's Fracas, the benchmark tuberose, Turbulences is less creamy and more airy. It still has real presence, and it costs a great deal for what it is. That price is the main reason to think twice.
When to wear it
For a spring evening or an important occasion. One spray on the chest is enough, as the tuberose projects strongly.
