Our take
What does Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée smell like?
Christine Nagel created Terre d’Hermès Eau Givrée in 2022 as an eau de parfum in a refillable bottle. She took the line born in 2006 and chilled it down. Hermès lists only three materials, which suits the house style. Citron opens loud, more bitter than lemon, with an almost icy zest. Juniper berry follows with a resinous edge that recalls gin. Timut pepper holds the middle. It smells as much of grapefruit as of spice and prickles the nose without adding heat. The base stays woody, as the Terre line demands. It reads lighter and drier than in the original. Compared with the 2006 Terre d’Hermès, Eau Givrée drops the orange and the mineral earth. What it gains is a mountain-air chill that makes it easier to wear in summer. On skin, juniper dominates the first hour.
When to wear it
A daytime fresh scent for work or weekends, from spring through late summer. Use three sprays on the chest and neck, because the opening fades fairly fast.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée is one of 47 creations by Hermès in our encyclopedia.
