Our take
What does Voyage d'Hermès smell like?
Voyage d'Hermès came out in 2010, composed by Jean-Claude Ellena while he was the house's exclusive perfumer. It was designed to be shared, with no gender attached. The bottle swivels inside a metal ring, like something you'd carry in a pocket. The opening is airy. Cardamom comes first with Amalfi lemon and juniper berries, and that spiced freshness recalls a cup of chai just poured. Tea takes over in the heart, joined by green notes and a sheer floral built on hedione. Nothing feels heavy. The base lays down dry woods, cedar and a clean musk that smells like laundry dried outdoors. This is a skin scent more than a trail. Next to Terre d'Hermès, which Ellena composed in 2006, Voyage is less mineral and less bitter. It is also much quieter, sometimes too quiet.
When to wear it
Ideal for the office or long summer days, on anyone. Spray some on the collar of a cotton shirt too, because the musk lasts longer on fabric than on skin.
It belongs to the Woody, Aromatic family. Voyage d'Hermès is one of 47 creations by Hermès in our encyclopedia.
