Our take
What does Lacoste Original smell like?
Lacoste Original arrived in 2024, a men's eau de parfum that the brand pitches as a return to its roots. A women's version, Original Pour Femme, launched at the same time. The perfumer isn't named. The stated family is a woody amber fougère, about as classic as it gets. Pink pepper and bergamot open it. The effect is fresh and slightly prickly, with little sourness. In the heart, lavender and clary sage build the aromatic frame every fougère relies on, with a hint of shaving soap. The base stays soft. Sandalwood gives a creamy texture and tonka adds a sweet warmth that recalls cut hay. It all reads clearly and cleanly, without much risk. Next to Azzaro Pour Homme, a much older lavender fougère, Lacoste Original feels rounder and less herbal. A spicier Parfum version followed, with cardamom and incense.
When to wear it
An everyday scent for the office and weekends, in spring or autumn. Three sprays on the chest and neck give decent presence without bothering anyone.
It belongs to the Woody, Fougère family. Lacoste Original is one of 11 creations by Lacoste in our encyclopedia.
