Our take
What does Lacoste pour Homme smell like?
Lacoste launched Lacoste pour Homme in 2002. It is a woody spicy eau de toilette, quite far from the brand's tennis image. The opening is fruity. Plum and apple bring a soft, almost stewed roundness, while bergamot and grapefruit add the acidity it needs. Then the spices rise. Cinnamon leads, with pink pepper and cardamom close behind and juniper drying everything out. It smells a bit like apple pie fresh from the oven. The base goes darker. A quiet rum note floats over vanilla and labdanum. Cedar and sandalwood hold the structure, and musk smooths the corners. The result is comfortable and a little sweet, never heavy. Next to Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male from 1995, Lacoste pour Homme is less vanillic and more fruity. It also projects less, which makes it the better office pick.
When to wear it
A between-seasons scent that works well at the office. Three sprays on the neck and chest, no more, because the cinnamon can get cloying.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. Lacoste pour Homme is one of 11 creations by Lacoste in our encyclopedia.
