Our take
What does Lacoste Live smell like?
Lacoste launched Live in spring 2014 alongside a clothing line of the same name. The target was a young city guy, a long way from the tennis polo. The opening is straight lime, juicy and unfussy. The heart goes green with crushed leaves and aquatic notes, very much in the fresh style of the time. The surprise comes at the base. Black licorice and guaiac wood add a dark, slightly sweet smoke you don't see coming after such a sporty start. That contrast is the reason to wear it. Everything else is safe, even predictable. Next to L.12.12 Blanc, the house's clean-shirt scent, Live has a deeper base and a bit more personality. Lacoste has not named the perfumer. The lime fades within half an hour. What remains is green, clean and faintly sweet.
When to wear it
A weekend scent for good weather, after the gym or on a café terrace. Three sprays in the morning and the licorice is still there by late afternoon.
It belongs to the Aquatic, Aromatic family. Lacoste Live is one of 11 creations by Lacoste in our encyclopedia.
