Our take
What does Armani Code Colonia smell like?
Armani Code Colonia came out in 2017, composed by Antoine Maisondieu. Despite the name, it's an eau de toilette and a fresher take on the 2004 Armani Code. The opening brings bergamot, mandarin and pink pepper. It's crisp and a bit fizzy, with no real surprise. The pink pepper fades within minutes. The heart is more interesting. Orange blossom turns soapy here, clary sage adds an herbal note, and amyl salicylate brings a very clean floral freshness. In the base, tonka and heliotrope recall the Code DNA with that powdery, faintly almond feel. An amber wood keeps everything fairly dry. On skin, it stays crisp for several hours. The original Code is darker, with its olive blossom and star anise. Colonia removes that shadow and keeps the comfort. It gains versatility and loses some seduction.
