Our take
What does L'Homme Lacoste smell like?
Lacoste launched L’Homme Lacoste in 2017, with Michel Girard credited for the formula. The angle is fruity, which is still uncommon in mainstream men’s scents. Mandarin and orange open it, yet the quince sets the tone. Its slightly floury flesh blends with tart rhubarb. The heart turns spicy. Ginger and black pepper prickle while almond rounds things out, and a sheer jasmine almost slips by unnoticed. The base lays dry vanilla on cedar, with amber and a clean musk. Nothing heavy here. It is a readable woody spicy built to please quickly. Next to the house’s L.12.12 Blanc, L’Homme Lacoste feels warmer and more gourmand. It trades polo shirt freshness for softness. Longevity is what you would expect from a decent eau de toilette, no more.
When to wear it
A daytime scent for spring and autumn, at work or on weekends. Three sprays on the chest, since the almond fades after a few hours.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. L'Homme Lacoste is one of 11 creations by Lacoste in our encyclopedia.
