Our take
What does Divine Decadence smell like?
Marc Jacobs released Divine Decadence in 2016, a year after Decadence and its handbag-shaped bottle. Retailer Nordstrom credits Annie Buzantian with the formula. The opening fizzes. A champagne accord mixes with orange blossom and bergamot for a sweet, bubbly effect. The heart opens into a fresh white bouquet. Gardenia leads, hydrangea brings a green and watery note, and honeysuckle adds honey. The base keeps the line's DNA: saffron, vanilla and a liquid amber that stays plush without weighing anything down. Decadence is darker, with plum, iris and vetiver. Divine Decadence is brighter and more floral than that, yet it shares the same taste for flashy luxury. It is hardly sold anymore, and most bottles now come secondhand. The honeysuckle is the part that ages best on skin, staying sweet and soft into the evening.
When to wear it
A party and evening scent for autumn and the holiday season. Two sprays, and the amber handles the rest.
It belongs to the Floral, Oriental / Amber family. Divine Decadence is one of 4 creations by Marc Jacobs in our encyclopedia.
