Our take
What does Sporty Citrus smell like?
Honorine Blanc, then at Firmenich, composed Sporty Citrus for Michael Kors in 2013. The rectangular bottle with its gold-toned cap fits the house style, and the brief was an active woman always on the move. Mandarin and orange hit first, juicy and nearly freshly squeezed. Pink pepper adds a small dry edge that stops it from tasting like syrup. The heart settles on orange blossom with a quiet jasmine for body. Nothing heady happens. Patchouli and woods sit very lightly in the base and mostly keep the citrus going a bit longer. The brand also mentions cassis, which you can barely pick up. Next to Eau de Rochas, the benchmark women’s citrus, Sporty Citrus feels more floral and less dry. It lacks the moss and depth of the Rochas classic. Still, it does its job: you smell clean and of oranges after the gym.
When to wear it
Best in high summer, on weekends or after a workout. Spray generously, because it fades after about three hours.
It belongs to the Citrus, Aromatic family. Sporty Citrus is one of 3 creations by Michael Kors in our encyclopedia.
