Our take
What does Eau des Jardins smell like?
Clarins launched Eau des Jardins in 2010 as part of its treatment fragrance range, next to Eau Dynamisante. The brand presents it as a scent enriched with plant extracts, black currant among them. The opening is a citrus salad of grapefruit, lemon, orange and bergamot. Juicy, a little bitter. The heart turns green. Spearmint and bay leaf smell like a garden right after watering. Rose stays in the background while black currant bud adds a tart, slightly sulfurous fruitiness. The base is dry and clean. Cedar, vetiver, a touch of patchouli and white musk sit there quietly. Nothing heavy. Compared with Eau Dynamisante, which is more herbal, Eau des Jardins comes across as fruitier. It also sits near Hermès Eau d'Orange Verte, without the same polish. Longevity is fair for this kind of eau, a few hours at most.
