Our take
What does Prada Amber (pour Femme) smell like?
In 2004 Prada launched its first mainstream perfume, simply called Prada. The eau de parfum was later renamed Amber. Carlos Benaim, Max Gavarry and Clément Gavarry composed it. The top pairs bergamot, bitter orange and mandarin with powdery mimosa. That slightly green opening hints that this amber will be lighter than you expect. The heart mixes rose and patchouli, with a prick of pink pepper. The base is what made its name, and it is the part people remember. Labdanum and benzoin form a crisp, almost soapy amber that tonka and vanilla round out. A little sandalwood smooths the edges. Longevity is excellent, often past eight hours on skin. It also reads well on men, and plenty of them wear it. Next to Guerlain's Shalimar, Prada's amber smells cleaner and less animalic, closer to freshly laundered sheets.
When to wear it
Good for autumn and winter, at the office or in the evening. One or two sprays are enough, as the labdanum projects strongly for hours.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber family. Prada Amber (pour Femme) is one of 23 creations by Prada in our encyclopedia.
