Our take
What does Donna Born in Roma Yellow Dream smell like?
Valentino launched Donna Born in Roma Yellow Dream in 2021. The bottle keeps the line’s Rockstud studs, now in a bright yellow. The perfumer was never clearly named. This eau de parfum takes the opposite road from the original Donna Born in Roma, which leans on vanilla. The opening is tart, with Italian primofiore lemon and Calabrian bergamot plus a lychee that adds a pink, juicy edge. In the heart, Turkish rose leans on peony and rose water. The effect is bright and slightly soapy. The base stays light. White musk, vanilla and Virginia cedar make a clean finish that smells of fresh laundry. Nothing heady, nothing dark. Next to Chanel’s Chance Eau Tendre, another sunny fruity floral, Yellow Dream comes across more lemony and rosier. There is no grapefruit here, and the rose does most of the talking.
When to wear it
A daytime scent for spring and summer that is easy at the office. Reapply in the afternoon because the musk sits very close to the skin.
It belongs to the Floral family. Donna Born in Roma Yellow Dream is one of 12 creations by Valentino in our encyclopedia.
