Our take
What does Valentino Uomo Intense smell like?
In 2016 Valentino turned its 2014 Uomo into an Intense version. The idea stays the same. This is a dressed-up, almost creamy masculine far from sporty freshness. Mandarin opens briefly before clary sage steps in with an herbal undertone. Iris carries the heart. Powdery and slightly earthy, it melts into tonka bean that smells of toasted almond. The base pairs vanilla with leather, a black leather that is soft rather than animalic. Picture a suede coat thrown over a cashmere sweater. It is a skin scent. Projection is lower than the word Intense suggests, but it clings to clothes for a long time. Dior Homme Intense, the other famous masculine iris, keeps a lipstick facet that Valentino swaps for sugar. The perfumer has never been officially confirmed, so we leave that name out.
When to wear it
Keep it for cold evenings and dates. Two sprays on the chest, under the shirt, carry you through the night.
It belongs to the Leather family. Valentino Uomo Intense is one of 12 creations by Valentino in our encyclopedia.
