Our take
What does L'Homme Sport smell like?
In May 2014 Yves Saint Laurent gave its 2006 L’Homme a sporty sibling. Anne Flipo and Juliette Karagueuzoglou composed this eau de toilette, first sold in a 60 ml bottle. The house pitched it as the scent of a man always on the move. The opening smells of clean laundry. Aldehydes fizz over crisp bergamot and lemony verbena, a bit like a fresh towel pulled from a gym bag. Cardamom follows, cool and slightly peppery. Elemi backs it up with its resinous lemon and faint incense. The base keeps things simple, with dry cedar and a warm amber note that carry it for a few hours. Next to the original L’Homme, which is gingery and creamier, the Sport version feels straighter and colder. You lose the tonka softness. You gain a clarity that works well in high summer.
When to wear it
Best in the morning or after a workout on a hot day. Use three sprays on the chest, since longevity is only average.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. L'Homme Sport is one of 35 creations by Yves Saint Laurent in our encyclopedia.
