Our take
What does Eau Extraordinaire smell like?
Eau Extraordinaire joined Clarins' treatment fragrance line in 2022, alongside Eau Dynamisante and Eau Ensoleillante. It bets on a citrus opening lifted by red ginger. The ginger brings a cool, peppery tingle without the greenness of an aromatic cologne. The heart pairs jasmine and rose in a clear, not very sweet register. These are bathroom flowers rather than a bridal bouquet. In the base, cedar and patchouli give a small woody footing that keeps it going for part of the morning. Nothing spectacular here, and it does not try to be. You spray it generously after a shower, like a modern eau de cologne. Next to Eau Ensoleillante, which is sunnier and rounder, Eau Extraordinaire feels brisker and a bit drier. The name promises a lot. What you get is pleasant and clean, but fairly predictable.
When to wear it
A morning scent for spring and summer that will not bother anyone at the office. Spray it freely on the body, since it does not last long.
It belongs to the Floral, Woody family. Eau Extraordinaire is one of 5 creations by Clarins in our encyclopedia.
