Our take
What does Eau Ensoleillante smell like?
Clarins introduced Eau Ensoleillante in 2007 as the third scent in its treatment fragrance line, after Eau Dynamisante and Eau Ressourçante. Its English name, Sunshine Fragrance, sums up the goal. The opening leans on citrus. Sicilian mandarin, grapefruit and bergamot meet a touch of watermelon that adds water. The heart is the most original part. Chamomile brings a honeyed herbal tea note. Ylang-ylang and mimosa supply the sunny side, carnation a spicy edge. In the base, osmanthus and tonka suggest dried apricot, while a little patchouli holds it together. The result reads as sun-warmed skin more than sunscreen. Next to Eau Dynamisante, which is greener and more bitter, this one is round and gentle. It has no pretensions and is meant to be sprayed freely. Longevity is short, which suits the genre.
When to wear it
