Our take
What does Cool Water Woman smell like?
Davidoff launched Cool Water Woman in 1996, a few years after the 1988 men's Cool Water. Pierre Bourdon, who composed the men's version, also signed this one. It opens on water-heavy fruit: melon, pineapple and lemon, with quince adding some chew. Lotus and water lily then take over. This watery heart is very much of its decade, and the jasmine and rose are reduced to extras. Lily of the valley keeps it bright. The base is softer than you might expect. Sandalwood, vanilla and musk round it out while peach and a hint of orris give it a velvet grain. Compared with Issey Miyake's L'Eau d'Issey, another aquatic floral of the same era, Cool Water Woman is fruitier and noticeably sweeter. It aims lower and is easier to wear on a hot afternoon.
When to wear it
A summer daytime scent for the beach or a lazy weekend. Spray it freely on skin and on a t-shirt, since longevity is only average.
It belongs to the Floral, Aquatic family. Cool Water Woman is one of 4 creations by Davidoff in our encyclopedia.
