Our take
What does Fahrenheit 32 smell like?
Fahrenheit 32 came out in 2007 as an icy counterpart to the 1988 Fahrenheit. The number is the freezing point of water on the Fahrenheit scale. Most sources credit François Demachy, though some add Louise Turner. There is almost nothing here of the original's leathery violet. The opening is cool and slightly aldehydic, like laundry dried outdoors in winter. Orange blossom arrives fast. It is very clean, almost soapy, and vetiver gives it an earthy spine. The base is the surprise. Soft vanilla meets a solar salicylate note that smells like sun cream on warm skin. That swing from cold top to warm drydown is the whole idea. It stays discreet with decent staying power. Fahrenheit 32 has become hard to find and appears to be out of production, though Dior has not confirmed it.
