Our take
What does Boss Orange Woman smell like?
Annick Ménardo composed Boss Orange in 2009, when the brand was licensed to Procter & Gamble. The opening is round and fruity, apple and peach with no sharpness at all. Orange blossom and jasmine fill the heart, and a plum keeps things firmly on the fruit side. Then cinnamon slips in and the mood tips toward baking. It smells a lot like apple pie still warm from the oven. The drydown is the best part. Creamy sandalwood and soft vanilla rest on an olive wood note that is dry and faintly smoky, which stops it from becoming pure dessert. It is an easygoing woody amber, lighter than most gourmands of its generation. Longevity is average and the trail stays modest. Whether it is still produced is unclear, as it has become scarce in shops.
