Our take
What does Souffle de Soie smell like?
Dior added Souffle de Soie to La Collection Privée in 2018, the year the line became Maison Christian Dior. François Demachy, then the house perfumer, composed it. Dior publishes no detailed pyramid, which suits a scent built as an impression rather than a list. It opens on clean bergamot, with elemi adding a peppery and slightly lemony glint. Jasmine and rose follow, along with a tuberose kept on a short leash. Violet brings a powdery grain that recalls the feel of fabric. The base belongs to white musk. A very clean patchouli and a quiet vanilla support it, plus a pinch of cinnamon you sense more than smell. Everything stays sheer from start to finish. Next to Gris Dior from the same collection, Souffle de Soie is less dry and far more floral, almost creamy on skin.
When to wear it
A skin scent for the office or a spring lunch. Projection is low, so spray generously on clothes to make it last.
It belongs to the Floral, Musky family. Souffle de Soie is one of 56 creations by Dior in our encyclopedia.
