Our take
What does Rose Milano smell like?
Armani Privé added Rose Milano to its Les Eaux collection in 2020, the lightest line in its high-end range. Daphné Bugey and Marie Salamagne composed it. The name points to Milan, home of the Armani house. Calabrian bergamot and primofiore lemon open it, with a peppery flash of elemi. Damask rose absolute arrives quickly alongside grandiflorum jasmine. This is a bright rose, almost lemony, with no jam. The base borrows chypre codes from patchouli and moss. Ambrette adds a plant-like musk that softens everything. The scent stays light, like the rest of the collection. Armani has since relabelled these eaux as eau de parfum and says the formula did not change. Compared with Dior's Rose Gipsy, another fresh rose from a luxury collection, Rose Milano has more backbone thanks to the patchouli.
When to wear it
A spring rose for the office or a lunch date. Four sprays on clothing make up for modest longevity.
It belongs to the Floral, Chypre family. Rose Milano is one of 46 creations by Giorgio Armani in our encyclopedia.
