Our take
What does Dolce Shine smell like?
Six years after the first Dolce, Dolce & Gabbana added Dolce Shine to the line in 2020. The mood shifts clearly. The original was a polite white floral. Shine starts with tropical fruit. Mango opens juicy and a little sweet, and grapefruit adds welcome bitterness. Quince brings a cooked-fruit note close to compote. In the heart, jasmine and orange blossom arrive with a salty accord that recalls skin after a swim. That's the best idea in the scent. The base stays light with blonde woods, sandalwood and musk. Nothing heavy, and nothing very tenacious either. Compared with the house's Light Blue, Dolce Shine is sweeter and sunnier, and less lemony. Fans of summer fruity florals will like it. Everyone else will forget it quickly. The salt deserves credit though, since it gives the fruit a shape it would otherwise lack.
