What does Rose The One smell like?
Dolce & Gabbana launched Rose The One in 2009, three years after the women’s The One. The eau de parfum keeps the square bottle and gold cap, but swaps the peach and gourmand vanilla for a rose. Pink grapefruit opens with mandarin and blackcurrant bud. A lily of the valley passes by quickly. Bulgarian rose follows, surrounded by peony and Madonna lily. A lychee note makes it fruity and a bit juicy. The base combines ambrette seed with sandalwood, musk and vanilla. It stays clean and not very sweet. Next to the original The One, Rose The One is fresher and far less gourmand. It also loses the golden glow that made the first one so appealing. On skin, the lychee outlasts the grapefruit. After three hours the musk ends up covering everything. The drydown is pleasant but not memorable.
When to wear it
A spring floral for daytime, the office or a first date. Two or three sprays are enough.
