What does The One Essence smell like?
With The One Essence, a 2015 eau de parfum, Dolce & Gabbana turned up the volume. The idea was to concentrate The One from 2006, the house's floral oriental. No perfumer was credited. The opening keeps the fruity glow of the original with litchi, bergamot and mandarin. Retailers also list peach. The heart narrows to a white lily, creamy and a little peppery. It is the clearest note in the whole composition. The base is where it parts ways with the original. A thicker vanilla and an amber resin wrap around the musk. The One stays brighter and more powdery. Essence runs warmer and sits closer to the skin. Wear it as the evening version of the same perfume. Several retailers have since stopped stocking it. The lily is creamier here and lasts noticeably longer.
When to wear it
For a winter dinner or a dressy night out. Two sprays at most, as the amber takes up room.
