Our take
What does Roses de Chloé smell like?
September 2013 saw Chloé release Roses de Chloé, an eau de toilette by Michel Almairac and Mylène Alran. The plan was to take the rose of the 2008 Chloé and lighten it. The opening plays on bergamot and a lychee that several retailers list. It feels fresh and slightly sweet, with no sharp acidity. Damask rose takes over fast. It is clean and neat, paired with a creamy magnolia. There is nothing dark here, no spice and no patchouli. The base lays powdery white musk over light amber. It stays in fine soap and soft skin territory. Next to the Chloé eau de parfum, Roses de Chloé drops the powder and the lipstick effect. It is simpler. Some will find it too simple, since it tells one story from start to finish. As a fuss free daytime rose, it works.
When to wear it
A spring rose for mornings, the office or weekends. Plan on four sprays and a top up in the afternoon.
It belongs to the Floral family. Roses de Chloé is one of 9 creations by Chloé in our encyclopedia.
