Our take
What does Acqua di Giò Parfum smell like?
Alberto Morillas composed the original Acqua di Giò in 1996. In 2023 he returned to the line with Acqua di Giò Parfum, not to be confused with the 2014 Profumo. The opening keeps the family’s marine DNA. Salty, mineral sea notes mix with bergamot and a hint of ginger that tingles at the back of the throat. The heart is aromatic. Geranium brings its rosy, minty side while rosemary and clary sage add dry Mediterranean scrub. The base is where the Parfum stands apart. Incense and patchouli cast a mineral shadow over the water, darker and more resinous than anything in the eau de toilette. The effect is salt-dried skin at sunset rather than a midday dive. It stays clean throughout, yet it has a depth the 1996 version never had.
When to wear it
Spring to late summer, at the office or on weekends. Four sprays work well, and it stays polite in any setting.
It belongs to the Aquatic, Aromatic family. Acqua di Giò Parfum is one of 46 creations by Giorgio Armani in our encyclopedia.
