Our take
What does Acqua di Giò Profondo smell like?
Armani introduced Acqua di Giò Profondo in 2020. Alberto Morillas, who composed the 1996 original, returned for this eau de parfum. The brief was to leave the surface and dive toward the seabed. The opening relies on marine notes and Aquozone, a watery molecule, around bergamot and green mandarin. It feels cool and very blue. In the heart, rosemary, lavender and cypress bring a drier herbal side. Mastic adds a clear resin that reads almost salty. The base stays mineral, with musk and a quieter patchouli than you might expect. Against the original Acqua di Giò, Profondo is less lemony and darker. Its woody aromatic side brings it closer to Bleu de Chanel, though with less volume. A Parfum version came later to expand the line. Profondo means deep in Italian, and the name fits.
When to wear it
A marine scent for hot days that also works at the office. Three sprays will do, and the trail stays clear for hours.
It belongs to the Aquatic, Aromatic family. Acqua di Giò Profondo is one of 46 creations by Giorgio Armani in our encyclopedia.
