Our take
What does Aqua Allegoria Pera Granita smell like?
Pera Granita joined Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria collection in early 2016, composed by in-house perfumer Thierry Wasser. The name tells you what to expect: a frozen pear in the style of an Italian granita. Citrus comes first and comes in eager. Grapefruit, lemon and bergamot give a fizzy, almost carbonated start. The pear shows up quickly. It's juicy without turning syrupy. Orange blossom keeps it company, and osmanthus adds an apricot shading that rounds the whole thing out. The base is light, with cedar and moss over white musk. It leaves a clean laundry feel rather than a real woody signature. This is classic Aqua Allegoria logic: a simple eau built around one material. Compared with Herba Fresca from the same line, Pera Granita is fruitier and more feminine. The catch is familiar, since it rarely lasts beyond three hours.
