Our take
What does Héritage smell like?
Héritage came out in 1992. Jean-Paul Guerlain signed it, the last member of the family to run perfume creation at the house. The name sums it up well, since it draws on Guerlain's classics. Bergamot and lemon open it. Pepper and coriander season them without crushing them. The heart is aromatic and built around lavender, with a quiet rose and patchouli that darkens the picture. The base calls up the famous Guerlinade. Vanilla and tonka sit next to sandalwood and vetiver. Labdanum adds a slightly leathery amber touch. The whole thing smells of cream and warm wood. Compared with Habit Rouge, Héritage is less powdery and woodier. It still shares that idea of an elegant, slightly old-school man. Plenty of people find it late and wish they had smelled it sooner.
When to wear it
A winter masculine for the office or a dinner. Two sprays on the collar of a jacket last all day.
It belongs to the Oriental / Amber, Fougère family. Héritage is one of 89 creations by Guerlain in our encyclopedia.
