Our take
What does Mon Guerlain Florale smell like?
Only a year separates Mon Guerlain from its Eau de Parfum Florale, presented in 2018. Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk kept the structure of the original and opened the windows. Carla lavender and bergamot lead off. This lavender is soft and nearly floral, nothing like the one in a barbershop fougère. In the heart, sambac jasmine takes a bigger role than in the original. Peony brings a rosy freshness, while neroli and ylang-ylang add some sunshine. The base returns to sandalwood, iris and vanilla, in a lighter dose. The quadrilobe bottle switches to rose gold. Compared with the 2017 Mon Guerlain, Florale is airier and less gourmand, which makes it easier to wear at work. You do lose some of the vanilla warmth that made the first one so appealing. Longevity is decent, around six hours.
