Our take
What does Hugo Element smell like?
Pure water was the theme of Hugo Element, a 2009 eau de toilette in the Hugo line from Hugo Boss. Nathalie Feisthauer composed it. Some databases list it as Boss Element, which causes confusion. The opening pairs citrus with watery notes and that calone effect of sea air. The heart warms slightly with ginger and coriander. These spices stay light and add relief without stinging. The base is simple: dry Virginia cedar and clean musk. Giorgio Armani's Acqua di Giò paved this road back in the 1990s. Hugo Element offers a spicier and cheaper take. The result is crisp and sporty. It has become hard to find. The ginger is the detail worth noticing. It gives the heart a faint peppery warmth, and that helps it feel a little less generic than most aquatics of its year.
When to wear it
After the gym or on a hot office day. Spray freely, about four times, as it evaporates quickly.
It belongs to the Aquatic, Aromatic family. Hugo Element is one of 35 creations by Hugo Boss in our encyclopedia.
