Our take
What does Un Jardin après la Mousson smell like?
Un Jardin après la Mousson came out in 2008 as the third chapter of the Hermès garden series. Jean-Claude Ellena, then the house perfumer, set out to describe an Indian garden after the monsoon. The opening stings a little. Ginger and lime give a green, almost watery freshness, like a snapped stem. The heart is the oddest in the series. Pepper, coriander and cardamom stay light and see-through, while watery notes create a melon effect that can puzzle on first sniff. The base rests on clean vetiver and longoza, a ginger flower with a soft scent. There is no damp soil. What you get is humid warmth slowly settling. Compared with Un Jardin sur le Nil and its green mango, this one feels spicier and more abstract. The Persolaise blog reported in 2023 that it was being discontinued, without official confirmation from Hermès.
When to wear it
