Our take
What does Jeu d'Amour smell like?
Kenzo launched Jeu d'Amour in August 2014 with the actress Louise Bourgoin as the face. Daphné Bugey, who had worked on Kenzo Amour, composed it with Christophe Raynaud. The opening mixes pomegranate with blood mandarin and a tea accord. It is fruity without too much sugar, and the tea adds a light bitterness. The tuberose in the heart comes as a surprise. It stays fresh, cut by freesia, and never takes on the creamy weight it is known for. The base is softer. Creamy sandalwood settles in with musks and a little cedar. Overall it smells of clean skin more than white flowers. Compared with Kenzo Amour, which is more vanilla and leans on rice, Jeu d'Amour is livelier and more floral. A sweeter eau de toilette followed in 2015. The eau de parfum remains the more interesting version.
When to wear it
A fruity floral for sunny days, for everyday wear or a date. Three sprays on the nape and wrists are enough.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Jeu d'Amour is one of 17 creations by Kenzo in our encyclopedia.
