Our take
What does Rêve d'Infini smell like?
Lalique added Rêve d’Infini to its women’s line in 2015. Most retailers credit Richard Ibanez with the formula. The house publishes a flat list of notes rather than a pyramid, and the scent does read as one bouquet. Bergamot opens for a moment. Then lychee arrives, juicy and slightly rosy, clinging to freesia. White rose and jasmine form the heart. A fuzzy peach rounds off anything that might have had an edge, and nothing really sticks out. The base mixes cedar, sandalwood and vanilla over a clean musk that smells like dry laundry. Fans of Chloé will recognise the lychee and rose pairing. Rêve d’Infini pushes further into fruit and vanilla, though, and lacks the powdery freshness that makes the 2008 Chloé work. You wear it without thinking about it. That is its strength and its limit.
When to wear it
A daytime floral for spring that is easy at the office. It lasts a few hours, so keep the bottle in your bag if you are going out later.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Rêve d'Infini is one of 17 creations by Lalique in our encyclopedia.
