What does Flor del Sol smell like?
Every summer Escada puts out a colourful limited edition. Flor del Sol was the 2020 one, an eau de toilette built around a cocktail, the Tequila Sunrise. The opening follows the recipe. Squeezed orange, sweet grenadine and a splash of tequila give a boozy hint that fades fast. Dahlia sits in the heart mostly as a stage name, since the real flower barely smells. Here it adds a watery floral note that tames the sugar. The base is a light, creamy sandalwood. None of it aims for depth. It is a poolside scent, cheerful and a bit loud, the kind you forget by September. It belongs to the brand's long line of summer editions, such as Ibiza Hippie in 2005, and keeps their fruity spirit. Being a limited edition, it is now hard to find outside resale.
When to wear it
Strictly for summer, on holiday or at weekends. You can spray generously since it evaporates within a few hours.
