Our take
What does Ô Oui smell like?
Lancôme released Ô Oui as an eau de toilette in late 1998, composed by Harry Fremont. Some sources say 1999, but a US department store ad from November 1998 already shows it on sale. The name nods to Ô de Lancôme, the house’s classic fresh scent. The opening smells of water hyacinth and citrus (bergamot, clementine and mandarin). A vodka accord adds an icy feel. The heart is fruity and very sheer. Green apple, pear and pineapple mix with lily of the valley and freesia, like a fruit salad served in a flower vase. The base stays light with water lily, musk, cedar and a little amber. It is very much a product of the transparent-scent years. Next to L’Eau d’Issey, which is more aquatic and more wistful, Ô Oui is cheerful and fruitier. It has since left the shelves, and Lancôme later reused the name for a different perfume.
When to wear it
A summer splash to spray freely after a shower. Longevity is short, so plan to reapply by midday.
It belongs to the Floral, Fruity family. Ô Oui is one of 25 creations by Lancôme in our encyclopedia.
