Our take
What does Alien Mirage smell like?
Mugler launched Alien Mirage in early 2020 as a limited edition. It arrived alongside Alien Man Mirage, its masculine twin. The format is a 60 ml eau de toilette, billed as a floral aquatic amber. The opening is mineral. Aquatic notes and a mineral accord frame a peppery pink berry. Think of wet rock under strong sun. The heart brings together seringa and lotus. Seringa, also known as mock orange, smells like fresh orange blossom with a green edge. Lotus adds a watery sheerness. The base pairs Alien's signature white amber with hinoki, a Japanese cypress that smells dry and clean. Compared with the original 2005 Alien, built on jasmine sambac and a dense amber, Mirage is much lighter and fresher. You can tell it belongs to the family, yet it never reaches the original's power.
When to wear it
A summer take for anyone who finds Alien too heavy. Three or four sprays, with typical eau de toilette staying power.
It belongs to the Floral, Aquatic family. Alien Mirage is one of 23 creations by Mugler in our encyclopedia.
