Our take
What does Gucci pour Homme smell like?
Gucci released Pour Homme in 2003, while Tom Ford was creative director. Michel Almairac composed it. Don't confuse it with Pour Homme II, a very different scent from 2007. The opening is a flash of white pepper and ginger with a pink berry note. It doesn't last. The heart quickly turns dry and woody. Papyrus brings a pale wood texture, orris adds powder and incense sets up the feel of a cold church. Vetiver and amber bring some warmth to the base. A quiet leather stays close to the skin. It barely changes through the day and wears close to the body. Next to Terre d'Hermès, another peppery woody of that period, it reads smokier and less mineral. It was discontinued around 2011, and the remaining bottles have climbed in price.
When to wear it
A winter woody for the office or quiet dinners. Three sprays on the shirt keep it discreet but long-lasting.
It belongs to the Woody, Spicy family. Gucci pour Homme is one of 16 creations by Gucci in our encyclopedia.
